Do I Need Therapy?
Wondering if you need therapy? Short answer, No. Long answer… Let’s chat a bit. Not everyone needs therapy, but everyone needs support in some way. This may look like family, friends or other peers that may understand your experience. There are other times when we may need a higher level of support from a professional, maybe even a professional with a speciality.
Seeing a therapist can come with many benefits like a different perspective or worldview, a place to share thoughts and feelings that you otherwise wouldn’t or even noticing some patterns and behaviors that could point to growth and change. Social support can also come with benefits like feeling more connected, feeling more understood and normalizing some occurrences of daily life and feelings.
Ultimately, some signs that you may benefit from therapy can be a difficulty navigating your day to day life and activities, seeing little to no progress in your day to day life or activities or a big life change happening now or soon.
If its important to test the waters, you can always try out a session or two or start your therapeutic journey in a group setting like a support or process group.
